Actually, I didn't take the photo(s). Jacob probably set up the camera on a tripod and I was completely clued out as to what was going on, which is why I'm beside myself in the picture. I must have been busy in some theoretical discussion about the need for collective action while this real form of collective creativity was being planned. When I saw people re-arranging their clothes and headgear, I just assumed we were trying to add some variety to a series of pictures.
I did, however, splice the pictures together to make the collage, and it was only then, several days later in the Dumont darkroom, that I figured out the plan. I sure hope I wasn't often that slow to catch on. If we had actually taken a vote on the process, I might have gotten up to speed sooner. Oh well, democracy versus spontaneity.
Well, it doesn't really look like much of a retreat, kinda has that "We are everywhere" kind of feel. Good for you, Steve!
